User Registration

Step by step documentation to set up a user registration form for your website.

How to avoid bot/spam user registrations?

While it’s impossible to completely eliminate spam, it’s feasible to significantly reduce bot-driven registrations. To effectively manage spam users on your WordPress site, identifying the registration sources is crucial. The most common method of registration is the default WordPress registration form, but third-party plugins like User Registration also contribute to user acquisition. Understanding these entry points is essential for implementing targeted anti-spam measures.

Identifying the Registration Source #

  • Go to admin Dashboard > Users > All Users.

In the Source tab, you can see the source from where the users are registered. To know if the users are registered via the User Registration plugin, you will see the names of the registration forms you have created using our plugin.

Preventive Methods #

  • If the source of the registration doesn’t have the name of the respective form, it is most likely that the registration has come from the default WordPress registration form. To avoid this, there is a feature in the User Registration plugin to disable the default WordPress login and registration form. For this, follow the steps below.
    • Go to User Registration > Settings > General > Login Options.
    • Find and toggle on the Disable Default WordPress Login Screen option.
Please make sure you have created a My Account page and then select that page for the redirection. Click here to learn how to create a My Account page.
